Sporting Boston colors while Recording "Francona: The Red Sox Years" with director/engineer (and devout Sawx fan), Robin Lai, at John Marshall Media, NYC. |
I bleed Pinstripes through and through.
So fresh and painful is the memory of dropping a 3-0 lead in the 2004 ALCS to The Lovable Idiots and watching them go on to end the illustrious Curse with their first World Series victory in 86 years, that I was unsure I actually had the range - the depth - to narrate the story of their fearless leader, Terry Francona. Some lines just seem uncrossable - even in the name of art, right?!
Fenway faithful - you win. Tito. Was. Da Man. The story of this humble, devoted, incredibly hard-working, charismatic leader is an awesome read for baseball fans of ALL stripes. Hope I did you proud, Red Sox Nation, because this book, by Mr. Francona and Dan Shaughnessy, made me appreciate how truly huge the Francona years were to Boston fans and to the game as a whole.
Hope you'll all check it out: Francona: The Red Sox Years
It is available starting this Tuesday, January 22nd.
